Is the use of blizzard bags necessary to makeup for snow days?

Along with winter comes snow and with snow comes days off of school. As a younger kid, when a snow day was announced that meant a free day to do whatever you wanted with no worries of schoolwork. Now a days, snow days mean something different. When a snow day comes, instead of just enjoying a day off work must be done. Teachers are required to assign work to the student that would amount to a days work in school. However for some classes the work that is required is either much more than what would actually be accomplished in a school day or is just simple busy work that seems unnecessary to do. Such as one teacher assigning an essay and another teacher just assigning a crossword puzzle. Students should be able to enjoy the day off that they rightfully deserve instead of having to do pointless work that never actually matters in the end. On the other side, do teachers really want to grade all that extra work when they deserve a day off as well? In some classes a day at school would mean notes and listening to the teacher explain a topic. Blizzard bags cause teachers to assign and eventually grade worksheets that would have never been assigned in the first place. Blizzard bags are an unnecessary attempt for students to miss as least amount of days as possible. One day off every now and then doesn’t affect the students education enough to cause something like blizzard bags to be necessary.
