Many people may know that l like to spend my time playing tennis or that I am the voice of the morning announcements, but a lot of people don’t know that one of my favorite pastimes is baking. Making food has always been a huge part of life for my family and I have spent a lot of my childhood helping in the kitchen. Although I have made a lot of mistakes in baking-like that one time cake batter ended up on the ceiling- I decided to take my baking to the next level. For a new segment on The Original, fellow food enthusiast Andy Sands and I decided to face off in a bake- off extravaganza. For my dessert, I decided to go with a twist on the classic peanut butter and chocolate combo, so I made chocolate clusters with peanuts and pretzels. I had never had my confections judged before (everyone in my family normally eats what I make-whether it’s a success or flop.) My opponent, Andy, had made a beautiful key lime pie with a palm tree made of almonds and lime rinds on the top. I was up against tough competition. I watched as the judges, fellow MHS original staffers and top food critics Ben “The Germ-x Tester” Lawson and Sage “Dogbreath” Gibbs tasted our confections. Although I won’t know their official reviews until their articles come out, each judge seemed quite pleased. Overall, the bake-off was fun for all and a segment I look forward to doing on The Original.
