An Outstanding Win By The Marietta Boys Soccer Team!
This past Tuesday the Marietta Tigers boys soccer team faced off against opposing team, the Cambridge Bobcats. The boys were lucky enough to have good weather, setting them up for an amazing game. With a score of 13-0 in favor of Marietta, the boys played an outstanding game! The starting lineup included Justin LaBarre as goalkeeper, Jackson Graham, Adam Coil, Camden May, and Jantzen Gebzyck as defenders, Cayden Wheeler, Kamden Lankford, and Ryan Mannix as midfielders, and Sean Fournier, Jake Craven, and Ethan Feathers as forwards. The boys started off on the left side of the field, causing them to face the setting sun; adding an extra layer of challenge to the game. Even with the extra challenges, Tuesday’s game started off with a goal from Sean Fournier within the first five minutes of the game. The good game play continued with goals from Jake Craven, Mason Wittekind, two goals from Ethan Feathers, and hat tricks (three goals in one game) from Ryan Mannix, Javier Arriazu who is a foreign exchange student this year at Marietta, and Sean Fournier. All of the goals scored were from juniors at Marietta. The team was able to make strong passes which improved the flow of the ball and created a better game in general. The team was communicating so well, and so loudly that the crowd was able to hear a little tiff from players Camden May and Sean Fournier which ended in the phrase “I am calm” to be shouted. Junior Captain Jake Craven had this to say about Tuesday’s game, “The team played an amazing game and I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome on my birthday”. The boys now have a 2-0-1 record and 402 wins. The boys are hoping to add to that number as the season goes on.
